African American Women in Technology

DigitalSistas.net is pleased to announce the African American Women in Technology Spotlight of the month.

In the "Spotlight"
this month is:

Leslie Esdaile-Banks
Director of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners' Competitive Edge Initiatives

Leslie Esdaile-Banks, Director of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners' Competitive Edge Initiatives, and winner of the 2001 Minority Small Business Advocate of the Year for Eastern Pennsylvania.

Since 1999, through innovative programming, Leslie Esdaile-Banks has worked to turn around a dying program to improve conditions in the minority small business community. She fostered the expansion of technology-based community initiatives, and spearheaded Philadelphia area efforts to bring capital, technical knowledge, and connections to those small business owners who must meet the daily challenges of entrepreneurship.

Leslie revitalized Ben Franklin's Micro Loan program, opening doors for entrepreneurs through access to capital, technology and new markets. As a result of her innovative initiatives targeted at "bridging the digital divide" within strategic industry clusters, Ben Franklin was awarded nearly $1 million dollars for their loan pool, and to assist the organization in delivering both pre- and post-loan technical assistance.

Congratulations Leslie! Keep up the good work.
