COMCAST SELECTS NEW AREA DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Sharon P. Franklin

Comcast Cablevision of Philadelphia has selected Sharon P. Franklin as the new area director of government and community relations.

Franklin replaces Stephanie L. Lowe, who accepted a marketing position for Comcast of Montgomery County last September. Franklin brings with her a broad knowledge of government civic affairs, a "hands-on" approach regarding community initiatives and extensive experience coordinating media and public relations promotional activities.

Formerly the community relations manager for Greater Media Cable, Franklin retained her title during the merger between Comcast and Greater Media Cable in mid 1999. A native Philadelphian, Franklin is a graduate of Temple University's Radio-Television-Film program, and serves on the board for many organizations throughout the Philadelphia area. Franklin's experience also includes positions as announcer/producer for various radio stations, editor/reporter for the Philadelphia Sunday Sun and press secretary for the Philadelphia City Commissioner's office.

As the new director of government and community relations, Franklin will supervise the coordination of government and community relations activities for the Comcast Cable systems in Philadelphia, Willow Grove and Lower Merion. An increased community presence will spearhead upcoming initiatives, as Franklin intends to use her vast community and government relations experience to keep Comcast connected to the ever-changing needs of the community,
"I believe it's important for everyone to know that as Comcast continues to grow, we will remain a good corporate citizen within the communities we serve."
