Toward
Your Health will explore health related issues and, whenever
possible, relate them to the ever-growing technological
advances. Our mission is to provide timely, up-to-date,
relevant information in an attempt to keep you healthy.
Each month we will focus on a new health challenge, idea,
or ways to effect change in our lives to improve our tomorrows.
This information will be accompanied with links to websites
that provide additional information about the featured
topic.
For
general health information, the web has a number of websites
that provide a plethora of information. We suggest that
you be prudent and use good judgment as you evaluate information
on the web, and invite you to begin by visiting WebMD.
This is an interactive site providing free information
on women's health and diseases. This site includes daily
news feeds, special reports, a medical dictionary and
an online library. Another site that provides reliable
health information for a healthier life is the Mayo
Clinic. This month, it has a fantastic article in
the Women's Health section dealing with Women's Top Health
Threats - a surprising list. Many of these health threats
will be explored in future months. You might also want
to check out a Ten
Step Countdown for a Healthy Life.
In
February we will focus on Heart Health and take a look
at what women must be concerned with in order to maintain
a healthy heart. We have received little information in
this area, yet heart disease remains the number one killer
of both men and women, and is responsible for more than
twice the number of deaths in women than all the cancers
combined! So tune in next month to learn more about how
we can reduce our risk for heart disease.
We
invite you to tune into this channel and begin making
